So what do Sign Me Happy sessions look like?….

‘Sing and Sign’ Assemblies!

This is a fantastic way of bringing British Sign language to your whole school, and is great value for money! For literally a few pence per child, we are delivering a valuable transferable life skill, and promoting the importance of equality and inclusion across your setting.

We have a huge bank of fantastically motivational, inspirational songs to choose from, and are always happy to do custom translations of any songs that are special to your setting in particular!

Our songs are always translated into BSL, not sign supported english (SSE) or Makaton. This means that the children are learning about the unique and beautiful gramatical structure of BSL as language in its own right, whilst learning songs that they love and having heaps of fun!

Sign Language Club!

Our classes are dynamic and full of FUN!… Which is summed up beautifully here by Ethan, one of our wonderful sign club members…..

“I was going to ask you how many sessions we have left, but I don’t want to know. Because if it’s not many I will be sad!”

Sign Language Clubs are a great way for children to really get hands on and developa deeper knowledge of BSL.

Sign Clubs are tailored to meet the needs of your setting. Some schools like to offer an after school club open to the whole school years 1-6, or a separate KS1 and /or KS2 club. Some schools offer Sign club as an enrichment lesson, rotating around the year groups every half term so that everyone gets a chance at learning and really getting to grips with this beautiful language.

So whether you are interested in a lunch time club, an after school club, class enrichment sessions or anything inbetween… get in touch and we can make sure that we create a fit that is right for you and your setting!

BSL Sign Choirs!

Signed song is such a beautiful way to experience Sign Language. It not only adds an extra layer of expression and understanding when we are physically embodying a song, but it’s also a valuable and enjoyable way to expand BSL vocab.

Signed song connects communities and cultures. Music isnt only auditory, that is only the begining!…. to enjoy music fully we can also experience it physically and emotionally. Signed song helps us do that, and not only enhances the storytelling of the song, but has hugely positive impacts on our mental health and wellbeing by releasing endorphins, reducing stress and anxiety, and promoting a sense of connection and joy!

Sign Me Happy works with school choirs, community choirs, adult choirs, as well as doing performance projects such as BSL Flashmobs, Singed songs for performances and celebrations such as leaving assemblies and relaxed public recitals.

How could a Sign Choir enhance wellbeing in your setting?…

One to one sessions.

Have you always wanted to give British Sign language a try? Fancy taking up a hobby that is enriching, challenging, fun, has huge mental health benefits and that is also an invaluable transferable skill all at the same time!?….

Why not book in for a 1-2-1 session and see what it’s all about. Learning at your pace, following your interests. These sessions can be individual or in a small group. Why not get a few friends together and make it a social adventure?!!

D/deaf awareness training offers numerous benefits, including improved communication skills, increased understanding of deaf people's experiences, and the ability to create more inclusive environments, both in the workplace and in society.

As with all our Sign Me Happy sessions, these workshops are tailored specifically to be the best fit for your setting. These sessions can include upskilling with relevant BSL vocabulary. The vocab taught during the session will be specific to the workplace and to the kinds of interactions that you are mostly likely to encounter.

These workshops are a great gateway into the world of BSL and D/deaf culture. They are valuable CPD training for staff, and a great way to demonstrate commitment to promoting and facilitating equality and inclusion in the workplace!
